Please do not include your organization name in this field.Using formatted text (i.e. bullets, bold, or italics) will increase your character count. 2. Purpose of Grant(Required)Describe the project or program for which you are requesting funding.
The Adventist Public High School Network (APHSN) is a rapidly growing discipleship, leadership, and community-building initiative of the Seventh-day Adventist Church dedicated to engaging, equipping, and empowering Adventist teens who attend public high schools.

These students—who make up a significant percentage of Adventist youth across the North American Division (NAD)—have historically faced limited access to spiritual support systems, leadership development opportunities, and denominational networks readily available to their counterparts enrolled in Adventist academies.

APHSN was created to close this gap with intentionality, innovation, and long-term vision. APHSN exists to connect Adventist public high school students to Christ, to community, and to their calling. Its purpose is to ensure that every Adventist teen—regardless of where they attend school—has access to the same opportunities for discipleship, spiritual growth, leadership development, and mission engagement.

Many are thriving academically but navigating complex spiritual and social environments—often without a consistent support system of peers who share their faith.
3. Project Activities(Required)Describe the activities of the project or program for which you are requesting funding
APHSN will strengthen Adventist public high school students through activities focused on discipleship, leadership, and community. Local coordinators will be trained using a new curriculum covering mentoring, campus engagement, and small-group discipleship. Students will receive leadership training that equips them to lead Bible studies, prayer groups, and service projects on their school campuses.

Regular Friday Night PLUGGED IN gatherings will provide safe spaces for worship and fellowship, reducing the isolation many teens feel. APHSN will also supply Bible Club Resource Kits to help students start or strengthen clubs on public campuses.

A digital network will offer webinars, devotionals, and coaching for ongoing support. Quick-start guides will help churches launch APHSN ministries. These activities create a strong system of support that nurtures faith, builds community, and empowers teens to live out their mission.
4. Previous Work(Required)Describe any previous work with the target population.
Early PLUGGED IN gatherings began in the DMV area to support Adventist public high school students who often feel isolated on Friday nights. These events quickly proved that students long for connection, worship, and community. The model expanded across the NAD as unions saw its impact.

The Columbia Union hosted events through NJ and PA, and through Allegheny West and Ohio. The Southern Union held multiple gatherings with Florida, South Atlantic, Carolina, Kentucky-Tennessee, South Central, and Gulf States. The Southwestern Union hosted events with Arkansas-Louisiana and Southwest Region, and the Lake Union held one with Michigan and Lake Region. Everywhere, teens expressed gratitude for finally being seen and supported.

The events united academy and public school students, showing that partnership is possible and needed. This early success demonstrates that APHSN is meeting a real, urgent, Spirit-led need and lays a strong foundation for continued expansion.
5. Goals & Anticipated Outcomes(Required)Describe the impact the grant will make and how you will evaluate this impact
APHSN aims to ensure Adventist public high school students feel seen, valued, and supported by their church. The program will help students strengthen their faith, discover their calling, and develop leadership skills that allow them to be salt and light on their campuses. Students will learn how to lead Bible studies, serve their schools, share their faith respectfully, and participate in mission opportunities. APHSN will also teach resilience, confidence, and character so students can excel academically and spiritually.

The anticipated outcomes include increased student engagement, stronger identity as Adventist young leaders, new Bible clubs on public campuses, deeper collaboration with local churches, and a growing network of students who positively influence their peers. Long-term, APHSN expects students to create a legacy of faith and service that benefits future Adventist youth in public schools.
6. Evidence & Research(Required)Provide evidence or research supporting your project’s goals and objectives
Research across the North American Division shows that a large percentage of Adventist teens attend public high schools, where they often face challenges staying connected to their church community. Studies on youth faith retention reveal that belonging, mentoring, and peer connection are major predictors of long-term spiritual commitment.

Public school students frequently report limited access to these supports because their schedules, environments, and social circles differ from those in Adventist academies. This disconnect can create spiritual isolation, weakened identity, and reduced engagement in church life. National data reflects that public schools are the primary educational setting for most American teens, including Adventists. These students navigate diverse social pressures, secular norms, and high academic demands—often without consistent spiritual reinforcement during the week. Research on adolescent development shows that teens need safe spaces, faith-based peers, adult mentors, and opportunities to lead in order to thrive spiritually. When these elements are absent, faith struggles become more common.

The need for APHSN is further supported by findings from the Barna Group, Fuller Youth Institute, and other youth-focused research organizations. Their work consistently indicates that young people remain committed to their faith when they experience relational support, relevant discipleship, and meaningful opportunities to serve. Without intentional outreach, public school students can become disconnected from their church, their peers in Adventist academies, and even their relationship with God.

Early PLUGGED IN gatherings already provide qualitative evidence of this need. Students repeatedly express that Friday night is the loneliest time of their week and that having a space to worship and connect restores their sense of belonging. Leaders have observed renewed spiritual interest, increased engagement, and improved confidence among students who participate. These gatherings reveal a clear gap: many public school students feel unseen and unsupported unless deliberate structures are put in place.

APHSN directly addresses this gap by creating a network of mentors, peer communities, leadership development pathways, and campus ministry resources designed specifically for Adventist public high school students.
7. Implementation Plan(Required)Please state your implementation plan, including the specific sequence of activities necessary, a timetable, and relevant staff and volunteer position descriptions.
APHSN will be implemented through a clear sequence of activities designed to establish the ministry in all 59 conferences across the North American Division. The first step is formal adoption of APHSN at the conference level, followed by the appointment of local coordinators in participating churches.

These coordinators will complete standardized APHSN training that covers mentoring, campus engagement, discipleship, and event planning. Conferences will support churches in launching Friday Night PLUGGED IN gatherings according to each church’s rhythm—weekly, twice monthly, or monthly—ensuring resources, templates, and coaching are provided.

A division-wide timetable will guide implementation. In Year One, conferences will identify coordinators, begin training, and host initial PLUGGED IN gatherings. Year Two will focus on expanding student leadership training, launching new Bible clubs on public campuses, and strengthening digital support networks. Throughout the process, ongoing coaching and quarterly check-ins will ensure consistency and accountability.

Local churches will recruit volunteers to support coordinators, manage events, provide transportation for students, and assist with campus ministry activities. Recommended roles include a lead coordinator, assistant coordinator, hospitality support, communications helper, and volunteer team for worship and logistics. Students will also serve in leadership roles such as Bible club leaders, worship coordinators, and outreach organizers.

By combining structured training, conference-level support, local volunteer engagement, and consistent student leadership development, APHSN will build sustainable ministry models that can be replicated across the division. The plan ensures every public high school student has access to spiritual support, community, and opportunities to lead.
8. Coordination(Required)Are there organizations working in your community with similar existing projects? If so, please list them and explain how your proposal differs.
There are no existing communities that are doing a similar projects that we are aware of at this time.
9. Performance Measurement(Required)Describe your proposed performance measurement for this project, including a timeline of when the performance measurement review will take place during the funding year
APHSN will use a structured performance measurement system to ensure progress, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the funding year. The evaluation process will be led by the Union-level leadership team, who serve as the primary points of contact for the NAD program directors. These Union leaders will regularly assess implementation within their territories by working directly with Conference youth directors and local coordinators.

Performance measurement will focus on key indicators such as the number of trained coordinators, frequency of PLUGGED IN gatherings, student participation levels, growth of Bible clubs on public school campuses, resource utilization, and overall student engagement. Union leaders will gather feedback from conferences on what is working, what challenges are emerging, and which supports or resources need adjustment.

This collaborative review approach ensures that data is both qualitative and quantitative, reflecting the lived experiences of students and leaders.

The timeline for performance review will follow a structured rhythm. Quarterly Zoom check-ins will be held with Union leaders to evaluate progress, identify trends, and set goals for the next quarter. In addition, each Union will hold two in-depth review meetings per year with their Conference youth directors, according to the rhythm already established in their territory. These semi-annual reviews will examine implementation outcomes, highlight success stories, analyze barriers, and guide strategic adjustments for the next phase of work.

At the end of the funding year, the NAD leadership team and Union leaders will compile a comprehensive report summarizing progress across all regions, lessons learned, and next steps for scaling and strengthening APHSN.

This performance measurement structure ensures consistent oversight and supports continuous refinement of the program as it expands.
10. Briefly describe your organization’s history and purpose:(Required)
The North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists (NAD) is one of the world regions of the global Adventist Church, overseeing ministry in the United States, Canada, Bermuda, and Guam-Micronesia. The Adventist movement began in the 1840s during the Millerite revival and formally organized as a denomination in 1863. For decades, all worldwide work was directed from the General Conference (GC), headquartered in North America. As the church expanded globally, leaders recognized the need for regional administrative structures to better support diverse mission fields.

In 1913 the idea of world divisions was introduced, and by 1918 the North American Division was identified as a distinct entity, though it continued to operate under direct GC oversight.

A major milestone came in 1985 when the NAD was granted increased administrative responsibility, followed by full operational status in 1990. Since then, the NAD has focused on evangelism, education, youth ministry, mission work, and supporting more than 6,000 churches, 1.3 million members, and a large network of schools, universities, and healthcare institutions. Today the NAD continues its mission to reach communities with the gospel, equip leaders, and support ministries that strengthen faith and service across the continent.
13a.
