Captain Gilmer Christian School strives for students to become their best by reaching both academic and relational goals through discovering servitude locally and abroad, being distinctive in academic achievements, and living out the gospel. The K-8 part of Fletcher Academy, Inc. started in 1910 by Sidney Brownsberger who also started Andrews & Pacific Union College.
Captain Gilmer Christian School students and educators used their grant money to extend and equip our STEM engagement with a desire to meet the needs of our students. Initially created a visionary plan to develop over successive years and are satisfied so far! In the
current day and age of education, staying current in an ever changing tech world is a challenge. Sharing foundational understandings of coding, loose parts and maker space with fellow colleagues is essential so the staff are connected in professional learning time. A celebratory moment is experiencing struggle and frustration as a student would which led us to review the aspects of the
Design process and vocabulary needed for a classroom. Another focus in staff development is to ignite and invite interest with ways to integrate STEM simply to various curriculum expectations, along with the responsible role to listen and respond to student curiosity.
